How to Brew the perfect Coffee

Are you a coffee fanatic searching for the perfect cup?

Look no further! Brewing the perfect cup of coffee is all about finding the right balance of beans, water, and technique. Follow these tips to make sure your morning cup is always spot on and by the end you’ll know how to brew the perfect coffee!

First and foremost, quality beans are a must.

Choose beans that are freshly roasted within the past two weeks from a reputable source. Different beans have unique flavour profiles, so try a few different types to find your favourite.  We have found that you will be getting the best coffee experience whilst you will be drinking speciality coffee; one brand from the UK, who does this well is The Coffee Twins– superior coffee whilst providing that experience.

It’s also essential to grind your beans fresh for the best taste. Pre-ground coffee can lose its flavour quickly, so grind your beans as needed. A coarse grind is best for French press, while a finer grind is ideal for drip coffee and pour over.

When it comes to water, go for filtered. Tap water can have impurities that affect taste, so it’s worth investing in a filter.  Living in cities, the quality of the water is very low and the taste from tap water being boiled can really affect the taste of the coffee and that’s the last thing you want to do to a delicious quality coffee. The temperature of the water is important too – aim for around 93°c (200°f).

Now it’s time to brew!

For drip coffee makers, use the right ratio of coffee to water – about 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per six ounces of water. French press and pour over will require a little more coffee – try a 1:15 ratio of coffee to water.

Once you’ve added the coffee and water, let the brewing process begin. Drip coffee makers will do the work for you, but for French press and pour over, you’ll need to let the coffee steep before pressing the plunger or pouring it into your mug.

The key to the perfect cup of coffee is experimentation.

Everyone’s taste buds are different, so don’t be afraid to try different ratios of coffee to water, grind sizes, and brewing techniques until you find the perfect combination for you. With a little practice and patience, you’ll be sipping on the perfect cup every morning.
